Researcher Wanted for Project Examining Online Extremism

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team for a 3-year project focused on understanding the role of masculinity in extremist movements online. The successful candidate will be employed to undertake research and management duties, working in a cross-European, interdisciplinary environment alongside senior academics, postdoctoral researchers, and research assistants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research on online extremism and develop a comprehensive understanding of the gender-based communication styles, narratives, and methods used by extremists and their leadership online.
  • Collaborate with international partners to design and implement a digital resource to build the capacities of those working in anti-extremism and pro-democracy.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in a relevant field, such as social sciences, humanities, or computer science. They will also possess excellent research skills, the ability to work independently, and strong communication skills. Additionally, they should be proficient in using digital tools and technologies to analyze and present complex data.

Benefits:

The position offers a competitive salary scale of €45,846 - €58,481 per annum, subject to funding limitations. The default position for all new public sector appointments is the 1st point of the salary scale. This may be reviewed, and consideration afforded to appointment at a higher point on the payscale, where evidence of prior years' equivalent experience is accepted.
