The role of Health and Safety Manager entails overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of site-specific health and safety policies in accordance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety policies that align with best practices and regulatory requirements
- Conducting regular risk assessments, fire drills, and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of safety incidents, near misses, and compliance metrics
- Responding promptly to emergencies and incidents, taking swift action to protect residents, staff, and assets
- Preparing incident reports and collaborating with external agencies as required
- Providing training and guidance to staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory compliance
- Delivering regular safety briefings and training sessions to staff on health and safety best practices
- Ensuring contractors and external service providers adhere to centre safety rules and regulations
- Supervising adherence to occupational safety standards across shifts and ensuring a safe working environment for all employees
Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing daily, weekly, and monthly compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, monitoring and auditing systems for resident data, security, and operational compliance, and escalating safety concerns promptly while proposing corrective measures.
Requirements & Skills:- Proven experience in administrative, compliance, or supervisory roles within healthcare environments
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail in reporting and record-keeping
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in English, with additional languages (French, Arabic, Spanish) being desirable
- Ability to manage unexpected challenges calmly and effectively
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, fire safety standards, and compliance frameworks is highly desirable
