We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Transport Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting people with disabilities and promoting inclusion in their communities.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the safe transportation of members to and from community activities, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are made to facilitate this process. They will also lead on the implementation of programme activities within the community centre, which may involve implementing daily programmes from member choice.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate the safe transportation of members to and from community activities.
  2. Lead on the implementation of programme activities within the community centre.
  3. Liaise and network with local resources to implement creative new programmes.
  4. Support the service coordinator in creating and implementing fundraising initiatives.
  5. Complete administrative duties as required.
  6. Encourage members to be actively involved in developmental, personal and activation programmes.
  7. Accompany and support participants on annual holidays, outings, socials, and day trips.
  8. Patient moving and handling; assist with personal care of participants where required.
  9. Ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of activities.
  10. Comply with legislative duties set out in current Health and Safety and Fire Safety Legislation.
  11. Ensure that your responsibilities to safeguard children and adults from abuse or harm is a core aspect of your role.
  12. Maintain vehicles in a roadworthy condition and make necessary arrangements for maintenance, cleanliness, and repairs.
  13. Mentor staff and volunteers in all aspects relating to programme activities and transport safety.

Person Specification:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 in HealthCare Support or similar qualification is essential.
  • A full Category B driving license and willingness to learn to drive IWA buses is essential.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Developing and delivering projects or programmes.
  • Experience of working with people with disabilities is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Safety Health and Welfare regulations, as well as transport safety and standards of use is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
