Job Role

This role supports the delivery of day services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader, Residential Team Leader, and Day Services Manager to ensure the provision of high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain the physical and emotional well-being of service users as assigned by the Unit Team Leader.
  • Support service users in community living, enabling choice and control, social and civic participation, personal relationships, education, and personal development.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for the health and hygiene of service users; cooperate with staff to create an environment that supports cognitive development, communication, motor skills, social integration, and appropriate activities.
  • Assist with activities of daily living including meals, kitchen skills, literacy, and numeracy as appropriate, and implementing dietary programmes.
  • Support with medical and dental care, hospital appointments, and general well-being; participate in monitoring and recording progress in line with procedures.
  • Act as a link between the unit and families; maintain confidentiality; participate in staff meetings and planning, and support the delivery of individual and group programmes.
  • Assist with supervision, training, and monitoring of students and volunteers; act as a key worker where assigned; contribute to public awareness and service improvement initiatives.
  • Administer prescribed medicines in accordance with policies and keep required records; support consumer feedback mechanisms and participation in planning and service delivery.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and cooperation with organizational changes, policy implementation, and use of new technology.
  • Facilitate transport-related duties, drive organizational vehicles as required, conduct safety inspections, and support service users during outings and activations.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or similar qualification.
  • At least one year of experience working as a community support worker or care assistant.
  • Full Clean Driving Licence.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.
