Job Title: Laboratory AnalystAbout the Role:

We are seeking a skilled laboratory analyst to carry out various Chemistry and Microbiology analyses relevant to milk quality control and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:
  • Raw Milk Analysis:
    • Chemistry methods: FTIR, Gerber, Kjeldahl; LCMS/MS;
    • Antibiotic/ Inhibitor analysis;
    • Microbiological methods: Testing of private well water, SPC, culture methods;
    • Rapid Microbiology Tests: Bactoscan, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), PCR;
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Completion of all documentation and maintenance of records;
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Implementation and participation in internal and external proficiency tests;
  • Maintenance and Calibration: Equipment cleaning, maintenance and calibration;
  • Lab Hygiene Standards: Day to day maintenance of laboratory hygiene standards;
  • Escalation Procedures: Timely escalation of non-conformances or potential non-conformances including participation in laboratory investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • A qualification in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or equivalent quality-related course;
  • Knowledge of and track record in the Agri/Dairy sector is preferable but not essential;
  • A good communicator and ability to work as part of a team;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • An ability to interpret test data and problem-solving skills;
  • Flexible and dynamic with good organisational ability;
  • Willingness to do further relevant training and improvement.
