Health and Safety Officer Job Description

Our ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in groundwork, facade, and fit-out, with an appropriate Health and Safety qualification and experience.

Duties:
  • Assist in developing and implementing EHS strategies and policies to ensure the safety of all employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Keep up to date with current EHS legislation and industry best practices and share this information with the EHS Committee and site staff.
  • Maintain and improve overall safety performance and that of supply chain partners.
  • Review Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans for new projects and review Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS) as required.
  • Develop effective relationships with Clients' EHS Representatives and mentor site management teams in site setup, EHS documentation, and presentations such as RAMS and toolbox talks.
  • Perform periodic site inspections and prepare audit reports, participate in internal project meetings for specific onsite issues, lead accident investigations and communicate findings to the EHS Committee, and advise on EHS training requirements.
  • Prepare EHS bulletins based on incidents, near misses, audits, or review of policies & procedures, maintain a comprehensive EHS management system aligned with business needs, reviewing and updating existing EHS policies & procedures and communicating changes to staff, and enhancing EHS aspects of tender development and evaluation.

Requirements:

  • Solve problems with solutions-oriented approach.
  • Excellent knowledge of EHS requirements in the Construction Industry.
  • Good understanding of current technical building requirements.
  • Strong drive to improve systems, processes, and personal skills continuously.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving abilities.
