Advanced Clinician in Acute Care Communication

We are seeking a skilled Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy team in a Kildare hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a leading acute setting with an established and supportive SLT team.
The successful candidate will assess, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders for adult inpatients. They will also work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure holistic patient care.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide therapy for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Manage a senior caseload including stroke, neurological conditions, progressive disease, and acutely ill elderly patients
- Deliver specialist dysphagia interventions using evidence-based best practice.
- Work closely with the MDT to ensure holistic patient care.
- Provide training and education for hospital staff, patients, and families.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records; contribute to audits, research, and service improvement projects.
- Participate in supervision and ongoing CPD.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy
- CORU registration (or eligibility)
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with significant clinical practice in an acute hospital setting.
- Dysphagia qualification and substantial acute experience in assessment and management.
- Experience in stroke, neurology, and/or other acute care specialties.
- Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, acute hospital environment.
