Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Cork. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile projects and benefit from strong career progression opportunities.

The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for carrying out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on a range of heavy vehicles in line with safety and technical standards. They will also undertake complex fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems and deliver effective solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on heavy vehicles.
  • Undertake complex fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Deliver effective solutions to ensure minimal vehicle off-road time.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out.
  • Collaborate with Garage Supervisors, Engineers, and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics (or equivalent qualification).
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a similar role.
  • Strong technical expertise with proven diagnostic and mechanical ability.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines within a busy, shift-based environment.
  • Desirable: Full Category D (Bus) Licence.
  • Desirable: Experience mentoring apprentices or junior colleagues.
