Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Procurement Strategist Lead to oversee and manage a team of Category Managers responsible for the implementation of our regional procurement strategy. This role will incorporate strategic and policy development aspects that will have medium-term consequences on the operation of the function.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing a detailed procurement strategy, ensuring the delivery of commodity productivity through price, value analysis (VA), and continuous improvement projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field
  • 15+ years procurement sourcing, consulting, buyer, and/or analyst experience
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Strategic thinker
  • Demonstrate competence in negotiating skills and assessing vendors
  • Supplier Relationship Management / Supplier Risk Management / Preferred Supplier Selection
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Professional communication; both verbal and written are required
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
  • Strong leadership capabilities
Responsibilities
  1. Manage a number of regional categories/commodities across European manufacturing sites
  2. Identify and engage with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, quality) to capture commodity requirements and ensure supplier qualification and quality
  3. Responsible for developing and executing detailed commodity strategy:
  4. Assess opportunity for commodity spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis
  5. Develop Sourcing Strategy for commodity detailing projects, sourcing levers, timing, resources, and expected benefits
  6. Accountable for execution of sourcing projects including Requests for Information (RFI's), continuous improvement, consolidation, etc.
  7. Responsible for defining negotiations strategy including supplier profiles, commercial negotiations targets, defining switching costs, and building Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models
  8. Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection - accountable for contract lifecycle management and compliance
  9. Responsible for delivering commodity productivity through price, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement projects - responsible for supporting regional/sector counter measures
  10. Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers within their commodities
  11. Responsible for commodity continuity of supply - engage with plants to efficiently resolve escalated issues and formally manage and secure supplier capacity
  12. Support NPD Procurement teams through preferred supplier programs, Requests For Quotation (RFQ's), and SRM to set and meet program Quality, Cost & Delivery targets
  13. Actively monitor and mitigate supplier risk including financial, capacity, quality, and compliance
  14. Responsible for forecasting, reporting, mitigating, and recovery of commodity inflation
  15. Support Quarterly Commodity Reviews (QCR) including updated projects, metrics, strategy, and countermeasures
