Job Title: Senior Cost Consultant

This is a senior cost consultant position that involves managing costs and delivering high-quality work outputs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of projects and programs with minimal supervision.
  • Develop business relationships with clients through strategic planning.
  • Capture, share, and innovate knowledge to support the implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, and client reports.
  • Support the evaluation of tenders, contractor selection, and contract documentation.
  • Manage risk and value within project teams.
  • Administer contracts, including preparation of valuations, forecasts, cost reports, and attendance at project meetings.
  • Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates, or other methods of work evaluation.
  • Deliver high-quality work outputs accurately and on time.
  • Support the delivery of services through proactive involvement and performance management of personnel.
  • Ensure service delivery adheres to policies and procedures, particularly health and safety and quality assurance.
  • Provide services in compliance with client corporate governance procedures where applicable.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Preferred: Degree qualified in construction, cost management, engineering, quantity surveying, or RICS-accredited degree.
  • Working towards MRICS or equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Developing interpersonal skills for effective client and staff interaction.
  • Good analytical skills, sound judgment, and forward planning aptitude.
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with industry-standard forms of contract, typically JCT and NEC.
  • Basic pre- and post-contract technical cost management skills.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters with circa 1+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
