Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Overhead Crews to join our team. Successful candidates will possess existing experience working together as a construction crew and be able to demonstrate their shared commitment to safe operations.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to travel long distances on short notice, work for extended periods in various locations, and work overtime when required. They will also have a total commitment to safety and compliance.

As an Overhead Crew, you will be responsible for performing new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead lines. You will need to work safely while performing these tasks and possess professional demeanor and interact in a positive way with fellow crew members, general public, and customer representatives.

In addition to your technical skills, you will need to have excellent communication and teamwork skills. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with multiple levels within the company and demonstrate a professional appearance and attitude in dealings with co-workers, customers, subcontractors, and the general public.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Able to perform rigorous physical labor as required, including but not limited to climbing, rigging, lifting, rescue operations, etc.
  • Able to identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
  • Proficient in all aspects of energized line work.
  • Possess professional demeanor and interact in a positive way with fellow crew members, general public, and customer representatives.

After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible to apply for entry into SUI's DOL Certified 4-Year Apprenticeship Program. (Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent and CDL.)

Possession of a valid Class A CDL is HIGHLY PREFERRED. Those hired without a CDL may be required to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
