Advanced Control Systems Engineer
This position involves the design, development, and testing of advanced automation and robotic control systems. The successful candidate will lead a team to create innovative solutions that enhance machine control systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- The Advanced Controls Engineer is responsible for ensuring the performance and reliability of machine control systems across multiple platforms.
- They contribute to machine control architecture concept development, component evaluation/selection, design, implementation, debug / verification testing, and documentation.
- The engineer stays up to date with emerging control system technology and methodologies, recommending and managing process/design improvements.
- They develop control algorithms and design/implement control systems for early prototype and proof of concept robotics.
- Interacting with mechanical and electrical designers, they improve system performance related to control systems.
- Working collaboratively with a team using Agile methodologies, the engineer generates and delivers new product features.
- They build and maintain strong relationships with project managers, engineers, operations teams, and external engineers/vendors.
- Following regulatory requirements and company procedures, the Advanced Controls Engineer selects and works with vendors as needed.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Robotics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years' experience in the robotics and automation field, including electromechanical design and software development.
- Experience with DC motor control, developing PLC (distributed) as well as PC-based motion control (centralised) systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
- A solid working knowledge of regulatory requirements for software and hardware development.
