Healthcare IT Infrastructure Specialist

This role plays a pivotal part in the successful implementation of electronic health records (EHR) across our organisation. Reporting to the architecture and technical infrastructure lead, this position is responsible for supporting the technical requirements of the programme, including peripheral estate infrastructure, hardware deployment, user authentication, network configuration, downtime solutions, disaster recovery, and liaison with facilities managers.

The healthcare IT infrastructure specialist will have responsibility for supporting the architecture and technical infrastructure workstream within the UPMC Ireland Cram transformation programme. This includes the identification of stakeholders, collaboration with other workstream leads, and support for decision-making processes towards the resolution of issues impacting the workstream.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serving as liaison between architecture and infrastructure functions and the EHR implementation team.
  • Providing hands-on support during go-live and stabilisation phases, ensuring continuity of operations and rapid issue resolution relating to data migration.
  • Liaising with facilities managers to ensure requirements are comprehensively assessed and translated into infrastructure designs that are supported and delivered by the facilities managers.
  • Ensuring the infrastructure architecture aligns with clinical workflow needs and integration points across ancillary systems such as PACS, LIS, RIS, and pharmacy applications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in health IT infrastructure and enterprise system architecture.
  • DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH MEDITECH EXPANSE OR EQUIVALENT ENTERPRISE EHRs e.g. EPIC OR ORACLE CERNER.
  • Experience with the technical architecture of EHR systems, including system hosting, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.
  • Understanding of infrastructure components: networking, peripheral estates, identity management, business continuity solutions, disaster recovery etc.
