Accountant Assistant Job Description

About the Role: This is an exciting opportunity to work as a key member of our accounting team. As an Accountant Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our accountants in preparing and managing financial accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting process, perform bank reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger.
  • Process VAT and PAYE returns, assist with year-end audits, and liaise with external auditors.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide support in the preparation of financial statements and reports for senior management.

Requirements:

  • Be part-qualified in a recognised accounting body (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA) and have at least 2 years of relevant experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Have strong knowledge of accounting principles and Irish tax regulations.
  • Be proficient in accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or similar, along with advanced Excel skills.
  • Have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
