Optical Metrology Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Metrology Specialist to join our team in Cork. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely and budget-friendly delivery of complex optical metrology solutions.

  • Project planning, coordination, and management, including liaison with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Development and implementation of new optical metrology systems and processes, adhering to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaising with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of optical metrology solutions into existing manufacturing processes.
  • Exploring opportunities for collaborative research projects with external partners.
  • Validating new equipment and/or complex new process projects from design through completion and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Initiating and driving cost-saving initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Enhancing existing processes through analytical techniques and the application of engineering principles.
  • Implementing corrective actions within agreed timelines.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in engineering or physics with an emphasis on optics, optical metrology, and opto-mechanics. They will have experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, project management, and optical metrology solutions. Knowledge of optomechanical systems, associated control systems, optical design, and testing is essential.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, with expertise in project management and optical metrology solutions.
  • Prior experience in optics and optical metrology, or relevant knowledge.
  • 5 years' experience in medical device manufacturing, including cross-site projects and R&D Liaison, project management, regulated industry experience.
  • Degree in engineering or physics with an applied element of optics, optical metrology, and opto-mechanics.
  • Familiarity with optomechanical systems and associated control systems.
  • Knowledge of optical design and testing requirements.
  • Skills in data analysis using statistical methods.
  • Experience in Project Management best practices.
  • Familiarity with automated inspection technology.
  • Knowledge of process engineering and equipment, automation specification, and GMP validation requirements.
