Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Site Reliability Engineer to lead our high-performing team focused on building resilient, scalable, and secure systems in Azure.

This role will involve collaborating with senior engineering and product leaders, championing SRE best practices, and driving operational excellence across our global ecommerce platform.

Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with software development teams to enable reliable and stable software services.
  2. Develop software solutions that enhance the reliability and performance of services.
  3. Optimise software release and deployment to production systems and cloud infrastructure in Azure.
  4. Advocate for availability, reliability and scalability practices.
  5. Define and adhere to Service Level Objectives and adhere to standard processes.
  6. Enable product engineering teams through support of automated deployment pipelines.
  7. Collaborate with product development as an advocate for scalable architectural approaches.
  8. Advocate for infrastructure and application security practices in the development process.
  9. Respond to production incidents in a balanced rotation with other SREs and Senior Engineers.
Requirements
  1. 5+ years of demonstrable experience as a Site Reliability Engineer across our technology stack.
  2. Strong understanding of SRE principles: SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident management.
  3. Experience with cost management and optimisation in Azure.
  4. Experience with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Front Door.
  5. Proficiency in one programming language: Go, PHP, NodeJS, C#, yaml, Python or Java.
  6. Experience with infrastructure running 100% in Azure.
  7. Experience with disaster recovery, backup strategies, and high availability in Azure.
  8. Familiar with distributed tracing, log aggregation, and incident response in cloud environments.
  9. Familiar with infrastructure as code Azure ARM/Bicep or Terraform.
  10. Familiar with observability & monitoring using: Honeycomb, NewRelic, CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog, Prometheus, KQL, Azure alerts.
  11. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub, CircleCI and Jenkins.
  12. Willingness to be part of a rotating on-call schedule.
  13. Openness to irregular work hours to support teams in different time zones.
