Senior Energy Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Energy Manager to lead our organisation's energy management strategy across healthcare and support service facilities.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated individual to develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive energy management framework, ensuring optimal energy performance across a diverse estate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on energy consumption, identifying opportunities for efficiency and leading behavioural change programmes. They will also establish and support Energy and Green Teams across multiple sites, deliver user education and energy awareness programmes to encourage sustainable energy behaviours.

• Lead the development and implementation of a strategic energy management plan.
• Monitor and report on energy consumption, identify areas for improvement, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including technical services, estates, operations, and sustainability units.
• Develop and deliver training programmes to promote energy awareness and behaviour change among employees.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy systems, renewable technologies, and environmental legislation. They should possess exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet key performance targets.

A degree in Energy Management (level 8 minimum), Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Energy / Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is preferred. Professional membership of a recognised body, such as the Energy Institute or Engineers Ireland, is also desirable.

The position is primarily based in Dublin, with regular travel to Limerick and North Tipperary. Flexible working arrangements and occasional out-of-hours work may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the development and implementation of a strategic energy management plan.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in energy management, ideally within healthcare, property, public sector, or large-scale organisations.
• Track record in leading sustainability, decarbonisation, and/or behavioural energy change initiatives.
• Experience with capital works project planning and delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and external contractors.
