Database Administrator Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot and develop enterprise level MS SQL database systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Provide day-to-day DBA operational support, including capacity planning, monitoring, auditing and database/application performance optimization strategies.
  • Proactively suggest and implement database and application patches, new releases and take a key role in future system design and direction.
  • Plan, configure, deploy and maintain MS SQL servers running the latest edition in an enterprise level production environment with high-availability.
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs and conferring with users through effective communication.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field for successful database administration.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a DBA in a high-transaction 24/7 environment, supporting both development and production databases with expertise.
  • Excellent SQL Server database administration and development skills, including T-SQL and Stored Procedures for efficient database management.
  • Deep knowledge of replication, disaster recovery, backup and data analysis techniques for effective database operations.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing, implementing and managing AWS-based infrastructure using infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Tableau development experience for data visualization.
  • SQL Development experience with proficiency in database programming languages.
