Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Investigator to join our team in the conduct of administrative and criminal investigations into potential breaches of competition law, including cartels, other anti-competitive horizontal practices, and merger gun-jumping.

About the Role

This is a challenging and varied role that requires a strong analytical and decision-making ability. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing initial investigative steps, undertaking day-to-day investigation and project management tasks, and maintaining an investigation jobs book. They will also contribute to the preparation of investigation reports, Statements of Objection (SOs), or referral files to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct research and evaluate evidence gathered relating to potential cartel behaviour, other anti-competitive horizontal practices, and merger gun-jumping;
  2. Oversee the casework of Investigators, including people management and mentoring;
  3. Represent the organization at national and international fora and conferences, as required;
  4. Participate in divisional, cross-divisional, and organizational projects when requested;
  5. Undertake ad hoc duties as may be reasonably requested, in line with organizational needs.
Requirements
  • A minimum of Level 8 Degree or equivalent in business, economics, law, auditing, or forensic accounting AND a minimum of one year or more of relevant experience in the conduct of regulatory, compliance, criminal, civil or administrative investigations, forensic work, or related enforcement actions or other equivalent relevant experience
  • OR A minimum of 5 or more years' relevant experience in the conduct of regulatory, compliance, criminal, civil or administrative investigations, forensic work, or related enforcement actions or other equivalent relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Good written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills
