Job Overview
">The Cartels Division conducts criminal and administrative competition law investigations, focusing on detection, deterrence, and prosecution of cartels.
">Cartels include serious offences such as price fixing, bid-rigging/tender collusion, and market sharing. These practices harm competition, the economy, and ultimately cause consumers/businesses or the State to have less choice of goods/services available or pay more than they should.
">The division investigates horizontal anti-competitive practices and agreements, merger gun-jumping, procedural offences, and breaches of relevant legislation. They consider immunity and leniency applications, confidential whistleblower information, complaints, and perform outreach in relation to bid-rigging in public procurement.
">The role involves conducting administrative and criminal investigations into potential breaches of competition law, establishing initial investigative steps, driving forward assigned cases, and maintaining complete files of matters completed.
">Key Responsibilities

- Conduct administrative and criminal investigations into potential breaches of competition law.">
- Establish initial investigative steps, including drafting investigation initiation documents and identifying key milestones.">
- Drive forward assigned cases and conduct investigative tasks while maintaining a complete file of matters completed.">
- Utilize various tools and techniques during investigations, including RFIs, witness interviews, voluntary cautioned interviews, summons procedures, and search operations.">
- Act as exhibits officer and warrant holder as required during searches.">
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of investigation reports, Statements of Objection, or referral files to the Director of Public Prosecutions.">
- Oversee the casework of Investigators, including people management and mentoring.">
- Represent the organization at national and international fora and conferences, as required.">
- Undertake other duties as may be reasonably requested, in line with organisational needs.">
Essential Requirements
">- ">
- Relevant Level 8 Degree or equivalent in business, economics, law, auditing, or forensic accounting AND a minimum of one year or more of relevant experience in regulatory, compliance, criminal, civil or administrative investigations.">
- A minimum of 5 or more years' relevant experience in regulatory, compliance, criminal, civil or administrative investigations or other equivalent relevant experience.">
- Be of good standing and character.">
- Good analytical and decision-making skills.">
- Good written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.">
- Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.">
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.">
