Job Description

The Chief Information Governance Specialist will lead the development and implementation of effective corporate and departmental information management processes and systems to effectively manage the information life cycle.

This role requires collaboration with all departments in a local authority to establish and maintain compliant standards, processes, communications, training, and systems for managing information in line with relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as relevant legislation such as GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and Data Sharing and Governance Act 2019.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective information governance strategies and policies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and related legislation.
  • Manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure efficient information management.
  • Liaise with third-party organizations to resolve issues and maintain partnerships.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work closely with peers and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Possession of excellent ICT skills.
  • Experience in national and European data protection laws and practices, including GDPR.
  • Understanding of information systems, data security, and data protection.
  • Experience in successfully managing information management projects from initiation to implementation.
  • Familiarity with legislative background affecting the local government sector and processing operations.
