Job Title: Retail Horticulturist
Job Description:

As a Horticulturist in a retail environment, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the garden center to deliver exceptional customer service. Your primary goal will be to create an engaging and welcoming atmosphere that drives sales and achieves business objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include driving profitable sales, executing store-specific plans, contributing to team meetings, organizing promotions, and maintaining accurate inventory and books. You will also be expected to provide excellent customer service by consistently achieving service targets, dealing with customer queries efficiently, and processing payments accurately.

Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate care and maintenance of plants, maintaining a high standard of display in the Garden Centre, and assisting the manager to merchandise the shop effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Drive profitable sales and achieve KPI monthly/yearly targets.
  2. Execute store-specific plans and contribute to team meetings to drive business forward.
  3. Organize store-specific promotions and execute the setup.
  4. Maintain accurate inventory and books to ensure stock loss is within budget.
  5. Minimize stock and margin loss through sales floor sales process.
  6. Provide great customer service by consistently achieving service targets.
  7. Deal with all customer queries including telephone queries in an efficient and professional manner.

Requirements:

  • Previous relevant retail sales experience.
  • Extensive plant knowledge.
  • Understanding of sustainability and trends.
  • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Great customer service focus.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Computer skills with advanced levels in Microsoft and core systems or similar IT programs.
  • Superior product knowledge.
  • Commercial awareness.
