Established nursing home in Carna, Co. Galway seeks a seasoned healthcare professional to join its leadership team as Assistant Director of Nursing.

This is a key role that reports directly to the Director of Nursing and oversees the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the facility.

Job Description

The successful candidate will play a pivotal part in ensuring the highest standard of care is provided to residents in line with HIQA regulations, national standards, and company policies.

Responsibilities include leading and supervising nursing staff, monitoring clinical practices, supporting the development of care plans, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Key skills required include strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, as well as experience in nursing management and evidence-based practice.

Postgraduate qualifications in nursing leadership are highly desirable.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration on the NMBI.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in nursing management or similar aged care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA regulations and relevant legislation.
  • Leadership training and/or QQI Level 6 qualification in Management desirable.
  • Postgraduate qualification in nursing leadership highly desirable.
