
Health and Safety Specialist

This exciting opportunity is a chance to make a significant impact on environmental compliance and sustainability within an organisation. The successful applicant will be responsible for driving compliance and continuous improvement in health and safety across the entire organisation.
The role involves working within an environmental management system to ISO 45001, 9001, 14001, 17025 and 50001 standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Safety Promotion: Ensuring safety has a visible presence in the workplace through training, promotions, tool box talks and audits.
- Fire Safety Risk Assessment: Collaborating with a fire consultant to assess equipment and recommend internal resources and training.
- New Products/Processes: Evaluating new PPE, assessing MSDS and evaluating new work procedures or machinery.
- First Aid/Spills: Assessing equipment and systems to ensure suitable training and processes.
- Risk Assessments: Conducting risk assessments and reviewing them in line with legislation or new data.
- Safety Committee: Organising and facilitating safety committee meetings, communicating with representatives and following up on issues.
- Accident Root Cause Investigations: Identifying training opportunities and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
- Systems Auditing: Ensuring all personnel understand their responsibilities and are compliant with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering, with additional training or experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
- Good computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
- An organised approach with attention to detail.
- The ability to work in both factory and office environments.
- High-level communication and observational skills.
