Job Title: Tender Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Tender Engineer to join our client, a well-established leader in the switchgear industry. This role combines technical knowledge with direct client interaction, making it an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to move into a more client-facing position.

The Role:

  • Take ownership of assigned switchgear tender processes from enquiry through to tender submission.
  • Review customer specifications, documents, and drawings to ensure compliance with tender requirements.
  • Prepare detailed and precise switchgear project quotations and tender documents.
  • Work closely with the Sales Director to align proposals with customer needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams for material and labour requirements.
  • Update internal pricing and design templates to reflect industry developments and best practices.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers to clarify requirements and provide timely updates.
  • Follow up proactively on quoted projects.
  • Ensure accurate completion of internal documentation and adherence to procedures.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards (IEC, BS, EN), trends, and health & safety requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, tidy workspace.

The Person:

  • Engineering qualification (Degree or Electrical Trade)
  • Technical understanding of switchgear is highly desirable
  • Experience working on tenders exceeding €5 million in sectors like pharmaceutical, industrial, or data centres is an advantage
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work directly with clients and colleagues
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet bid deadlines under pressure
  • Fluent English with exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP Business One experience is beneficial
  • Eligible to work in Ireland (valid work permit if required); full driving licence is an advantage
