Support Staff - Resident Services

Enhance the lives of residents by working effectively with all staff directly involved in their care.

The role requires a member of the Resident Services team to deliver support in conjunction with the wider multidisciplinary team and other relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise residents in daily life, ensuring their safety and the safety of others.
  • Cater for physical and emotional needs of residents, providing high-quality care.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of sections, maintaining professional standards.
  • Train residents, observe, and report on their progress to nursing staff and other personnel.
  • Accompany residents to outside clinics, hospitals, or other centres, providing verbal reports upon return.
  • Implement nursing treatment as directed, assist in client assessment and programme implementation.
  • Induct new Support Staff into resident routines and general practices.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for residents when requested by management.
  • Attend In-service Training Programme and lectures to educate on service user development.
  • Participate in Fire Prevention and Emergency Training Sessions, implementing fire orders as per appointment letter.
  • Observe strict confidentiality and maintain hygiene and tidiness in assigned areas.
  • Undertake training for safe medication administration and administer medication according to organisational policy.
Person Specification:
  • QQI Level 5 (Healthcare Support) or SKILL-VEC Level 5 equivalent desirable.
  • One year's experience in disability support preferable.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Knowledge of HIQA, Health Act 2007-2013, Progressing Disability Services, New Directions, and Mental Health in Intellectual Disability.
  • Flexibility to work in all areas of Resident Services.
  • Creativity in using community resources, problem-solving, and supporting service user needs.
  • Professional, accountable, good planning, and time management skills.
