The role of a Speech and Language Therapist is a critical component in our multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
About the Role- Professionals will have the opportunity to assess, diagnose, and provide intervention for adults presenting with various challenges, collaborating closely with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Assess and provide intervention for adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties, working across acute wards and liaising with colleagues to optimize patient outcomes.
- Deliver dysphagia assessments and management in line with best practice standards, ensuring high-quality care for patients.
- Contribute to discharge planning and care pathways to guarantee continuity of care, documenting all assessments, treatment plans, and progress according to professional standards.
- For Senior Role: Provide leadership, clinical supervision, and mentoring to junior staff and students, taking a lead in service development initiatives, quality improvement projects, and clinical governance activities.
- CORU registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Proven experience in adult acute care and dysphagia management, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Senior Role Specific: Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, with significant time spent in an acute hospital setting, demonstrated ability to lead service initiatives and support junior team members.
