Lead Solvency Risk Manager

The role of Lead Solvency Risk Manager is pivotal in shaping the risk management landscape within a prominent life insurance company. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, you will be responsible for spearheading the development and implementation of comprehensive solvency and risk analytics across the European Union and the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Monitor Solvency and Risk Analytics: Establish and maintain robust systems for monitoring and analyzing financial risk profiles, focusing executive action on ALM strategy, reinsurance, and capital optimization.
  • Support SII EU Group CRO: Collaborate closely with the Chief Risk Officer in leading the ORSA process and drafting comprehensive ORSA reports.
  • Develop Recovery Plans: Create and maintain accurate recovery plans for subsidiaries, ensuring timely implementation of recovery strategies.
  • Review and Challenge Proposals: Scrutinize proposals with significant risk implications, providing expert analysis and recommendations.
  • Develop and Maintain Risk Policy Suites: Design and implement effective risk policy suites and risk appetites for financial risks.
  • Provide Comprehensive Information: Deliver actionable insights on solvency and financial risks to Executive Management and the Board.
  • Liaise with MetLife Home Office: Engage with the home office on stress and scenario testing.
  • Coach and Develop Team Members: Support the team in new regulatory developments and lead coaching and development initiatives for other team members.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Actuary with 8+ years' experience in a technical risk role or actuarial role with Solvency II experience.
  • Broad understanding of Life & Pensions products and strong business acumen.
  • Track record in analyzing complex problems, driving results, and delivering recommendations to high standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to challenge and influence others at all levels.
