Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Project Manager to join our Capital & Estates Department in Dublin West on a major healthcare infrastructure project.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in project management, with a focus on delivering high-quality results within tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the necessary consultation processes, meetings, and other activities to ensure the satisfactory completion of the project.
  • Act as senior administrative officer for the management of the project, helping to resolve issues and agreeing on solutions.
  • Liaise with the equipping team to ensure programme and installation requirements are aligned.
  • Develop proposals with selected design teams and contractors.
  • Obtain approval for proposals as necessary, following protocols and regulations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the brief is known and understood by all those who will work in the new facility.
  • Develop action plans for the timely and efficient completion of contracts.
  • Work closely with the design team, site supervisory staff, hospital personnel, and service management to ensure the equipping/commissioning/handover teams are established in good time, adequately briefed, trained, and supported.
  • Liaise and coordinate with the site inspectorate team.
  • Manage and control agreed project timescales and budgets for construction and equipping, while adhering to quality standards.
  • Anticipate risks and issues, especially those arising from phasing, variations, commissioning, and vacating, and bring them to the attention of the Programme Board where necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Hold a Level 8 (or higher) QQI major academic award in Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying, accredited by the relevant Professional Institute.
  • Alternatively, hold Appropriate Membership of the relevant professional association (e.g., Society Of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Engineers Ireland, Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland).
  • Have at least 7 years of satisfactory and relevant experience in planning, design, project management, or construction of buildings, or in the installation or maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and heating services of such buildings.
  • A high level of knowledge and experience of construction of buildings and building services, as well as an understanding of maintenance requirements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare environment, particularly residential buildings, hospitals, and other health facilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant internationally accepted standards in relation to design and maintenance of health care buildings.
  • Knowledge of option appraisal procedures, brief writing, building user consultation, cost estimation and control, hospital design, healthcare, and project management, as well as the procurement process appropriate to public sector capital projects.
