Senior Payroll Manager

This is a senior-level payroll position that involves managing the daily operations of the payroll function for a large multi-national business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of six Payroll professionals and collaborate with external service providers to optimise payroll operations, ensure compliance with Revenue regulations, and maximise the value of the implemented payroll system.
  • Review existing payroll setups across the group and implement a centralised payroll to cater for the full group.
  • Develop documented process notes for all procedures and create internal templates that can be used across the organisation.
  • Maintain an appropriate control environment in line with best practice.
  • IDentify and recommend updates to payroll processing systems and procedures.
  • Oversee the preparation of payroll-related documents and put in place structures to ensure accurate processing and control for new starters, leavers, pay changes, and personal information changes.
  • Resolve issues relating to payroll runs and implement KPI tracking to monitor payroll function performance.
  • Provide monthly/quarterly/annual reports to finance and HR within deadlines.
  • Maintain payroll information and records in accordance with statutory requirements and support internal and external audits.
Requirements
  • Senior-level experience in payroll management, preferably with a Plc background.
  • Experience with Time & Attendance systems.
  • Proven track record managing a large-scale payroll operation in Ireland.
  • Deep knowledge of PAYE, payroll compliance, and Revenue reporting requirements.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience implementing or optimising payroll systems.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret and present data.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
  • IPASS Qualification (or equivalent) and proficiency in Excel.
  • Good understanding of payroll input to management accounts.
