Job Description

Senior Finance Officer

You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth financial operation of services that make a real impact in the community.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading day-to-day finance operations including budgeting, payroll liaison, and cashflow monitoring.
  • Working closely with an outsourced finance partner to ensure accurate payroll and management accounts.
  • Overseeing all ledgers, banking, procurement, and compliance with internal controls and funder requirements.
  • Managing restricted/unrestricted funds, preparing reports for funders, and supporting funding applications.
  • Supervising and supporting finance members.
  • Ensuring all financial policies, procedures, and audits are up to date and compliant.
  • Collaborating with leadership to support strategic financial decisions and operational efficiency.
  • Participating in wider organisational activities including training, team development, and governance reporting.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a finance role and hold a relevant finance qualification (or 4+ years of relevant finance experience without a qualification).
  • IATI, ACCA, CIMA qualifications.
  • Strong experience with purchase and sales ledgers.
  • Confident working with accounting software.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal - with the ability to liaise across teams.
  • Experience in the charity or not-for-profit sector.
