A Construction Cost Manager plays a critical role in ensuring effective cost control and management throughout the project lifecycle. This includes monitoring spend, ensuring payments are compliant with contracting reimbursement principles, and providing cost advice to teams.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction contract commercial documents, drawings, and specifications. They will also possess excellent analytical skills, able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment, and provide clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of cost control standards, procedures, and policies
  • Monitor and assure compliance with Contracting Entity's cost control standards
  • Develop the cost management strategy for the programme
  • Review proposed contractor Key Performance Indicators for cost, spend, and budget management
  • Oversee the management of variations, monthly cashflow forecasting, and any amendments/variances, retention, liquidated damages, etc.
  • Provide advice to the Risk team on the financial impacts of potential risks
  • Monitor anticipated final costs and review/approve completed cost reports
  • Escalate cost control issues as required

Additional Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience in quantity surveying or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of cost management principles, methods, techniques, and tools
  • Proficient in MS Office (all packages) and knowledge of project financial and cost management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
