Part-Time Medical Device Buyer

We are seeking an experienced Buyer/Planner to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for individuals with strong analytical and organizational skills who can effectively manage purchasing operations and ensure seamless supply chain management.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing build plans, making informed decisions on purchase order quantities, delivery dates, and inventory levels. They will negotiate the best pricing and lead times with suppliers, expedite material deliveries to meet build plans as required, and book deliveries onto the purchasing system. The buyer/planner will also issue materials to production, maintain computerized purchasing databases, investigate any inventory discrepancies, and resolve invoice/delivery/receiving issues. Additionally, they will monitor supplier performance, set up key performance metrics (KPIs), work with R&D on supplier/material selection, collaborate with internal stakeholders to address material or quality issues, conduct supplier risk assessments, and look for innovative ways to reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse build plans to make decisions for purchase order quantity, delivery date and inventory levels
- Negotiate best pricing and lead times with suppliers
- Expedite material deliveries to meet build plan as required
- Book deliveries onto the purchasing system
- Issue material to production
- Maintain computerised purchasing database
- Investigate any inventory discrepancies
- Resolve any invoice/delivery/receiving issues
- Monitor supplier performance
- Set up key performance metrics (KPIs)
- Work with R&D on supplier/material selection
- Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholder to address any material or quality issues
- Carry out supplier risk assessments
- Look for innovative ways to reduce cost
Requirements:
- Minimum three years experience in professional buying position along with experience in material management
- Experience working in GMP/Medical Device environment
- Experience in purchase and management of different material commodities
- Experience in purchasing, supplier relations, material planning and inventory management
- Proficient understanding of MRP
- Familiarity with product specifications
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
