Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Cost Planning Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in the provision of quantity surveying services under the direction of a Senior Cost Planner, undertaking pre-contract duties.

This role is diverse and involves interpreting information for projects, measuring planned works to assist the Senior Cost Planner in projecting construction costs for all current and upcoming projects.

The successful candidate will also carry out crucial work contributing to decision-making processes driving key project decisions at various stages through acquisition and design development.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of cost plans from early feasibility through to detailed cost planning ready for handover to the project team.
  • Participate in design team meetings and report back to the Senior Cost Planner.
  • Relay essential information back to the Senior Cost Planner to ensure the design team stay cognizant of the most efficient unit types, layouts, and building materials when progressing a scheme design.
  • Liaise with the cost planning team and benchmarking data from live projects to aid in preparing budgets.
  • Liaise with sales teams to ensure specifications and budgets accurately reflect market expectations of each project.
  • Aid in taking off quantities to create bills of quantities for upcoming developments, interpret those BoQ's to provide site teams with working documents and budgets.
  • Help develop and maintain a databank of construction costs to assist ongoing cost estimation and financial appraisal processes.
  • Assist the Senior Cost Planner in preparing Part V applications to local authorities and follow those submissions to ensure compliance is achieved.
  • Liaise and engage PQS consultants to prepare BOQ's for the project budget, ensuring they have the latest information.
  • Attend meetings and undertake site visits.
