Job Title

The Assistant Accountant position requires an individual to support the finance manager in delivering day-to-day finance operations.

  • Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including dunning
  • General Ledger and Bank Reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Posting of bank and cash transactions
  • Finance administration tasks relating to customs clearance activities
  • Reviewing and preparing regular reports (AP & AR reports, balance sheet reconciliations, sales reports, cost/loss comparisons, stock lists)
  • Managing insurances and supplier contracts
  • Reviewing and posting employee expenses
  • Facilitating the registration and setup of new customers and suppliers, ensuring internal systems are updated and documentation processed
  • Participating in finance and cross-departmental projects as required
  • Ensuring the accuracy of data and information within ERP system and Sage accounting software
  • General finance administration including being first point of contact for finance-related queries, invoice/payment follow-ups, monitoring of Finance shared mailboxes and office management responsibilities for the site
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with broader finance responsibilities including, but not limited to monthly closings, audit preparation, tax compliance, and VAT reporting
Requirements
  • Completed or actively pursuing professional finance qualification(s), e.g. AAT
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a Finance Assistant / Assistant Accountant capacity within a fast-paced environment (logistics experience would be great, but is by no means essential)
  • Excellent working knowledge of ERP software
  • Experience of working with SAGE accounting software would be a big advantage, but not absolutely necessary
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority and across multiple locations
  • Exceptional administrative skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • High levels of resilience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously and with high levels of initiative
  • Rigorous, responsive, resilient and flexible approach to tasks
