Scientific Innovation Lead

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Analytical Scientist to lead scientific innovation and drive process automation in a new laboratory facility. Working closely with the Enabling Technology and Engineering group, you will leverage your knowledge of Process Automation and collaborate with the Analytical team to enable the adoption of Process Analytical Technology (PAT).

The role involves overseeing laboratory operations, including equipment qualification, documentation generation, and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions. You will also contribute to laboratory and process establishment, ensuring seamless integration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and/or leading trending and reporting of laboratory data to support batch release and maintain oversight of review metrics.
  • Maintaining and releasing laboratory stock, ordering laboratory consumables as required.
  • Participating in functional meetings, leading departmental and cross-functional meetings as needed.
  • Supporting site safety and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Performing supporting Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) activities and troubleshooting for general lab operations.

Requirements include a degree qualification in a relevant field (Biological Sciences/Engineering), preferably with a background in microbiology. An Advanced Degree (e.g., MSc) qualification is desirable. A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a relevant industry field is also required.

You should be able to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative in a constructive manner, with technical knowledge of biologics drug substance manufacturing and microbiological testing techniques. Excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role.
