Regional Development Officer

Working closely with the Fundraising Team Lead to support local volunteer fundraising Branches with their events, queries, administrative needs, and recruitment

Purpose of Role

Working closely with the Fundraising Team Lead to support local volunteer fundraising Branches with their events, queries, administrative needs, and recruitment. These efforts will be in line with targets set for the region. The fundraising Branches of focus will be based in the Eastern region.

To be successful in this role, you must be self-motivated, organised, structured, and have good people management and customer service skills. You will be required to travel and work outside of normal working hours when attending events, Branch meetings, and other relevant meetings. 

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and build relationships with Branches and be responsive to their requirements.Support Branches with their administrative needs.Ensure best practice is being followed by volunteers.Help ensure the success of planned fundraising events/campaigns/projects alongside the Fundraising Team Lead and local Branches.Help support volunteer recruitment, training and development for Branches.Engage with clients/volunteers to support Branch development.Support Branch requirements for social media channels and communications.Help develop new fundraising opportunities with local Branches alongside the Fundraising Team Lead.Keep accurate data for fundraising activities, Branch volunteers, collection boxes etc.Be responsible for owning income targets for volunteer fundraising Branches within the region.Full profit and loss responsibility for the region and individual Branches within the region.Manage volunteer recruitment, training and development for Branches.Engage clients and other local stakeholders to support Branch development.Research, develop and capture a pipeline of fundraising opportunities to support Branches.Implement an effective reporting system to track activity and outputs (using in-house CRM system and business intelligence tools). 

In addition to these key accountabilities, you may also have ownership for one or more key processes which will be communicated to you via your manager and/or the Performance Management framework.

Person Specification

Experience, Education and Skills

Proven experience in a comparable sales and/or fundraising role.Strong evidence of continuous professional development and qualification relevant to the role is desirable.Ability to deliver on targets and goals with a flair for business development.Must have the ability to operate independently with innovative spirit and to forge strong, lasting relationships with volunteering communities.Experience and understanding of donor (customer) relationship management programmes and database marketing and development, ideally in a not-for-profit environment.Demonstrable experience in planning, organising and reporting on project work and ongoing work programmes.Working knowledge of the Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising – The Irish Charities Tax Research (ICTR) February 2008 and implementation resources.Awareness of trends, patterns and challenges of volunteering in Ireland at a community level.Comfortable in a cold-calling environment.Excellent interpersonal skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Be open-minded with the ability to recognise good ideas.Excellent time management and experience multi-tasking across concurrent projects.Excellent verbal, written presentation/IT skills and communication skillsTalented communicator who can inspire the support and commitment from a diverse range of stakeholders.Capable of working independently and as part of a team.Demonstrate understanding of people management, motivations and working styles and requirements.Experience and contacts within the corporate community.

Special Conditions

Full clean driving licence and a willingness to travel to various regional locations essential.Must be eligible to work in Ireland.Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required on an ad hoc basis and acceptance of the need to travel nationwide to meet with key fundraisers and other stakeholders, also on an ad hoc basis.
