Business Decarbonisation Supports Executive (multiple roles)


We have exciting opportunities in the SME, Support Scheme for Renewable Heat, and Commercial Retrofit/Microgeneration programmes within the Business Support Department. Within SEAI, the Business Support Department develops, administers and manages a number of focussed energy programmes, designed to support a range of small to large businesses to implement energy efficiency and renewable approaches to deliver on the Climate Action Plan targets.


The successful candidates will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI's supports to small and large commercial energy users. These supports include the Energy Academy, the Support Scheme for Energy Audits, the Support Scheme for Renewable Heat, the Non-Domestic Microgeneration Grant, the Large Industry Energy Network, and the Excellence in Energy Efficient Design (EXEED) programme and upcoming Non-Domestic Retrofit Scheme.


Key Responsibilities


The responsibilities of the role outlined are indicative of the currently envisaged scope and may be added to or altered as required, in line with the requirement of SEAI across Business Units/Department. 


They will include, but not limited to, the following:


  • The Programme Executive will support the delivery of the key objectives of their programme. This will typically involve supporting the delivery of programme related activity including service delivery and grant management, application and payment processing, client and supplier engagement, and ongoing programme evaluation and enhancement.
  • The Programme Executive may be assigned a range of responsibilities across various Business Support programme activities including:


o  Administering and coordination of grant schemes including the Support Scheme for Energy Audits, Support Scheme for Renewable Heat, Non-Domestic Microgeneration and Non-Domestic Retrofit supports including service delivery and end-to-end grant management, stakeholder engagement (applicant, outsourced business partners, IT and supplier interactions), identification and delivery of programme enhancements, and ongoing evaluation and reporting of scheme performance data.

o  Developing and delivering educational and training supports, tools and resources including new content for SEAI's Energy Academy

o  Supporting the development of new support initiatives such as a post-audit business advisory support to enhance the impact of energy audits.


  • Develop, liaise with and maintain strong working relationships with businesses, stakeholders, representative associations and key allies for the benefit of the programme and broader organisation.
  • Providing project management, technical and operational support to the programme manager.
  • Preparation of reports relating to Programme uptake, performance and trend analysis.
  • Providing guidance and support to SEAI clients
  • Representing SEAI at meetings and events (including presentations and speaking engagements).
  • Supporting the communication and marketing of the programme.
  • Inputting to the ongoing development of the programme strategy and work programme.
  • Participating in strategic policy development supporting both national policy (including the Climate Action Plan) and SEAI priorities, within the team and other programme areas as required.
  • Keep informed of and disseminate relevant policy in the programme area at EU and national levels.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Programme Manager or Head of Department.


Essential Requirements


The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:


  • Degree level (or greater) or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline such as engineering, science, business or social science
  • A minimum of three years' work experience in a related discipline. Post graduate studies may be included.
  • Strong project management and organisation skills and knowledge of business process development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience building and maintaining effective working relationships internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including report writing, presenting and public speaking) with an ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work proactively on own initiative, overcoming issues to achieve objectives
  • Well developed IT skills including proficiency with MS Excel or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.


Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working in sustainable energy and/or with the SME or Industry sector.
  • Commercially focused, with a good understanding of the challenges facing Irish businesses.
  • Experience delivering training and educational supports to varied audiences
  • Experience analysing, reporting and communicating insights from data
  • Experience in working in building energy retrofit activities, industry energy efficiency, or business sustainability.
  • Experience in delivering high volume grant programmes, or other high volume client facing services.
  • Experience with energy / environmental / quality management systems


Eligibility to Work

The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland. To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate's application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested. Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
