Head of IT â Job Description


Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Head of Information Technology will be accountable for the effective and efficient management of IT infrastructure (systems/network), IT Service management (support services), and Information Security. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of IT Operations, overseeing implementation, operations & maintenance of systems, and required processes to ensure the stability and availability of dependent information systems. This individual will be a senior stakeholder in the evaluation, selection, and introduction of new technologies and will also ensure that cost-effectiveness remains a key factor in daily decision-making. The role would be based out of Dublin, Ireland, and in addition to reporting to the CFO, will require a dotted reporting structure to the US-based parent company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, identify vulnerabilities, and other metrics to inform business decisions.
  • Ensure Microsoft 365 components work together seamlessly to meet business needs, using their full range of capabilities, and stay informed about new features and competitor solutions.
  • Oversees all Service Desk Functions and needs for the corporate office and property portfolio.
  • Proficient in data-driven decision-making with a strong acumen in leveraging data for strategic decision making
  • Expertise in extracting insights from data to inform key business decisions
  • Ensure the viability of all strategic infrastructure and technical architectural decisions across the company.
  • Represent the engineering team in the development of end-to-end product life cycles, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and engineering capabilities.
  • Prepare costâbenefit analyses when upgrades are necessary and monitor vendors to ensure they offer the best possible service and value for business needs.
  • Provide support and guidance to identify and steer technology projects to success. Ensure proper understanding, execution, and delivery that is aligned with the business requirements gathered. Assist in setting priority, and delivery timelines and oversee deliverables
  • Train employees to use software and hardware; troubleshoot issues and provide technical support when needed.
  • Facilitates IT security audits and/or supports Human Resources employeesâ IT investigations.
  • Work closely with the Networking, Operations, and Security teams to facilitate the definition of services and the agreement of meaningful service levels with the business (including key performance indicators)
  • Manage the employee lifecycle from end to end, including annual evaluations, performance feedback, and talent development, working with HR for talent acquisition needs, performance concerns, or disciplinary matters.
  • Strive for and implement organizational consistency and alignment across the organization
  • Contribute towards the development of the IT roadmap and project solution. Work with other IT Leaders to define key projects and ensure solutions are in alignment with needs assessed


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership position
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within Information Technology, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Deep knowledge of SaaS solutions and operating systems (ex: Microsoft Exchange, MS365, Active Directory), current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and systems performance monitoring.
  • Strong technical expertise in areas such as system administration, network management, and cybersecurity.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering complex technology projects.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capacity to inspire and lead a diverse team.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Comfortable in a startup environment, with the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Can demonstrate a keen awareness of the latest technological advancements such as the current AI, Cloud, and other recent trends
  • Industry certifications are a plus.
