The Local Government Management Agency (LGMA) is a State agency established in 2012 following the merger of the Local Government Management Services Board (LGMSB) with the Local Government Computer Services Board (LGCSB) and the integration of An Comhairle Leabharlanna (ACL) functions.

The LGMA is an agency established to provide specified services for and on behalf of Local Authorities, Chief Executives and the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The Agency is primarily funded by Local Authorities, and operates in the local government sector, reporting on performance as required to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.

Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the LGMA Board, the CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the business and resources of LGMA.

The CEO will be responsible for the maintenance of high standards in implementing the functions of the LGMA and ensuring a reputation for impartiality, management of conflicting interests, and always upholding the public interest. The CEO will be responsible for the leadership, management and direction of the LGMA and will be accountable for the overall performance of the organisation. The CEO will be responsible for executing organisational strategy, supporting the senior leadership team, supporting the vision, values and corporate culture of the Agency and communicating effectively with stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A successful track record of significant achievement as a leader and senior manager in either the public or private sector that demonstrates the necessary vision, leadership, knowledge, expertise, and resource management skills.
  • Up to date knowledge of Public Service Business Management, Change Management (in the context of HR, IR and ICT) with a significant track record of leadership on related projects.
  • Sound judgment and decisiveness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of effective engagement in multiple stakeholder environments.
  • Strong networking skills and an ability to influence stakeholders at top management levels.
