The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for association football in the Republic of Ireland. The FAI has primary responsibility for all regulatory aspects of the game of football in the Irish Republic.

The FAI is seeking an exceptional and inspirational leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer. This pivotal role will chart the course for the Association through an exciting period of strategic reform and development, driving efforts to achieve the FAI's mission of promoting and growing football in Ireland.

Reporting into Chair of the Board, and based in the FAI's Headquarters, the successful candidate will:

  • Provide visionary leadership, inspiring and uniting staff and volunteers to deliver on the FAI's mission, vision, and strategic objectives through an open, inclusive environment.
  • Hold responsibility for building trust, credibility, and goodwill among the FAI's diverse membership base, their families, and local communities nationwide.
  • Spearhead initiatives to enhance the FAI's organisational performance, effectiveness, governance standards, public reputation, commitment to inclusivity, and operational transparency in close partnership with sponsors, funders, government bodies, and other key stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships by actively engaging with, key partners, sponsors, government entities, UEFA, FIFA, acting as the FAI's ambassador in various forums.
  • Inspire stakeholders at all levels through a combination of vision, integrity, and proven leadership abilities.

The FAI welcomes applications from candidates who possess:

  • C-Suite leadership experience in complex, commercial, evolving and stakeholder-intensive environments, demonstrating energy, adaptability, resilience and agility.
  • An appreciation of, and passion for, the business of sport, football governance, development strategies and the FAI's National Game Strategy.
  • Extensive multi-stakeholder management experience, including with volunteer member associations and committee structures, along with an influential leadership style and an ability to build sustainable partnerships.
  • Proven ability to establish a compelling strategic vision and to define and lead comprehensive strategies to drive organisational, managerial and cultural change. Strong financial and commercial acumen including experience of P&L and balance sheet management, control systems, risk mitigation and data analysis.
  • Track record of developing diverse talent and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
