Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland Riot Games Full time

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. Since then, Riot has released multiple titles and has become a leader in global esports. Players form the foundation of our community and it's for them that we continue to evolve and improve the player experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to work in a high performing accounting team. As Senior Revenue Accountant, you'll report to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for the accuracy of revenue for both US GAAP and local statutory reporting. You'll focus on accounting for the latest game revenue streams including mobile and B2B and helping the team update its processes to work with a revenue system. This is a hands-on role requiring daily operational knowledge. It also needs you to bring a thoughtful approach to new issues. You'll collaborate within the team on process and with other teams including Game teams, Payments, Legal, Data, and Accounting teams in our global offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the full-cycle accounting for the company's revenue streams, ensuring accurate and timely recognition of revenue. You will be responsible for raising the monthly journals, preparing the monthly reconciliations, updating monthly reporting packages and answering queries from the central consolidation team on any changes within a specific monthly time frame.
  • Understand new or complex revenue transactions by critically evaluating contracts and collaborating with other departments to establish correct revenue recognition and documenting the associated accounting treatment accordingly.
  • Accounting memo preparation for a mixture of revenue contracts (including sponsorship, broadcast, ticketing revenues) supporting the eSports business
  • Collaborate with various internal teams including business development, tax, legal and the central consolidation team to support changes and enhancements in EMEA revenue streams.
  • Analyse revenue-related data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis. Your analysis will include a comprehensive review of accounts receivable ageing on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure risks related to revenue streams are accurately mitigated and adequate controls are implemented.
  • Support our internal tax team in preparing monthly VAT calculations across multiple regions, and prepare quarterly VAT reconciliation files comparing our filings to what was posted in the accounting records, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Assist with external audit queries on revenue recognition, for both US GAAP and local GAAP.
  • Regularly review existing revenue accounting processes to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Propose and implement solutions to improve workflow and reduce errors.

Other Responsibilities

  • This role requires a high attention to detail and the ability to analyse financial data to identify trends and inform business decisions
  • You will independently and in collaboration with teams such as business development, tax, legal and the central consolidation team, analyse new and unique transactions to understand the underlying facts and their implications on Riot's business, striving towards a collaborative resolution.
  • You have clear and fact driven communication skills and know how to keep stakeholders informed and working towards your end goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional accounting certification such as Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) or equivalent
  • Big 4 or mid-tier trained in assurance AND 4+ years post qualification accounting or finance experience
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player
  • A great communicator who can cultivate strong cross functional relationships and communicates effectively with internal and external teams
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multitask, think creatively and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment. Must embrace Riot's mission, culture and values.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience analysing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment.
  • Experience with project management and driving process improvements is a benefit for the role.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes your fellow Rioters, who are the customers of your work. Being a dedicated fan of games is not necessary for this position

Our Perks:
We offer medical and dental plans that cover you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children. Life insurance, parental leave, plus short-term and long-term disability coverage are also available. Riot will support your retirement benefits with a company match, and double down on your donations of time and money to non-profit charitable organizations. Balance between work and personal life is encouraged with open paid time off, and a play fund so you can broaden and deepen your personal relationship with games.
Let's Thrive Together:
Because together we are better. It's our policy to provide equal employment opportunity for all applicants and members of Riot Games.
We know that fresh and varied perspectives will make us better at what we do, so however you identify and whatever background you bring with you, we're excited to hear from you. Don't be discouraged if you feel you don't fully meet every single one of the requirements for a particular role, there's always room for growth at Riot. If you spot a role that will make you want to jump out of bed in the morning, we are waiting to hear from you Don't forget to include a resume. We receive many applications, but we'll notice a fun, well-written intro that shows us you Dare to Dream and Execute with Excellence.
