Purpose of Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Fraud/Risk Analyst with strong eCommerce expertise to lead our fraud prevention efforts and manage a small remote team. You will play a key role in monitoring transactions, investigating suspicious activity, and ensuring our payment systems remain secure.
In this role, you will:
- Monitor and investigate unusual transaction patterns via internal and external fraud prevention systems.
- Identify and act on fraudulent payments/withdrawals, including monitoring transactions from banned countries/territories.
- Communicate suspected fraud matters to the business and suggest appropriate actions.
- Liaise with external parties regarding suspected fraud matters and manage any required follow-up.
- Prepare reports and presentations of suspected fraud cases for internal and external review.
- Collaborate with the Risk & Compliance Officer, Senior Management Team, and other departments.
- Manage and resolve disputes and chargeback claims.
- Investigate complex and sensitive consumer escalations related to fraud.
- Engage with customers on fraud prevention and payments-related matters.
- Deliver ongoing staff training on fraud identification and prevention.
- Provide recommendations to improve fraud prevention measures.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure robust risk management across the business.
- Manage and develop a small remote team of fraud analysts, providing guidance and support.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- At least 2+ years of experience in Fraud Prevention in an eCommerce environment, with a strong understanding of online fraud tactics and payment processes.
- Experience managing or mentoring a small team, ideally in a remote setting.
- Extreme attention to detail – able to spot anomalies and patterns others might miss.
- Strong multitasking skills, with both analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong computer skills and comfort using technology for research, reporting, and communication.
- Creative and practical approach to problem-solving with a focus on business-friendly solutions.
- Strong sense of integrity and doing the right thing for customers, the business, and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience delivering staff training on fraud matters (desirable).
