Location: The Society operates a hybrid working model with a combination of remote and in-person (Dublin 4 office) working

Office Days: Office attendance days are Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday weekly

The Team

The Finance Department provides a range of financial services in support of the Societys primary mission. It is led by the Director of Finance and Corporate Services and the Head of is supported by the Financial Operations and Change Manager, Financial Accountant, Payroll Officer, Accounts Assistant, Income Processing Coordinator and Income Processing Administrator.

The Role

This maternity cover role will require a hands-on finance professional who can combine day-to-day operational leadership with a focus on improving processes, delivering system upgrades, and leading change projects.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Process Development and Improvements
    • Lead and manage finance-led projects; focused on enhancing finance systems, processes, and reporting capabilities.
    • Lead on finance elements of organisational change projects, including implementation of new systems or process redesign to improve efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the Technology Team on finance-related technology initiatives, ensuring integration with organisational systems.
    • Engage with relevant third parties regarding maintenance, upgrades, and implementations relating to financial systems.
    • Actively identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency.
  • Team Management
    • Operational management and development of three direct reports: Accounts Assistant (responsible for Accounts Payable), Income Processing Coordinator, and Income Processing Administrator.
    • Work closely with the Financial Accountant ensure the smooth running of the Finance Department.
    • Effective management and coordination of the teams workload, and delegation of tasks and duties as appropriate.
    • Set clear objectives and performance goals for the team, ensuring continuous development and high performance.
    • Lead cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic, high-demand environment, ensuring clarity, stability, and forward momentum.
    • Support and report on the income elements of major fundraising campaigns, ensuring accountability and strong financial oversight.
  • Financial Processes And Management Reporting
    • Review and approve all relevant financial processes e.g. supplier payment runs, bank reconciliations, and online income platform reconciliations.
    • Assist the Head of Finance with monthly reporting packs; preparing analysis and providing insights into variances and trends where required.
    • Support the work of the Finance Committee as needed.
  • Business Partnering
    • Build partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with team managers to support the development of financial knowledge and understanding across the organisation.
    • Engage with managers across the organisation to ensure alignment of processes.
    • Collaborate across teams to deliver on key strategic and organisational projects.
    • Provide financial analysis to support managers in their decision-making where required.
  • Regulatory And Control Environment
    • Maintain a strong financial control environment ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements.
    • Support the Financial Accountant with the annual statutory audit.
    • Ensure that finance procedures and controls are adequate and aligned to finance policies.
    • Support the Legal and Compliance Team in relation to internal audit work.
  • General
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding financial information at all times, ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation.
    • Assist with special projects, as required, to enhance the Societys financial objectives.
    • Undertake any other duties commensurate with the role.

Essential qualifications & experience
  • A professional accounting qualification.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering systems or process improvements.
  • At least 2 years of team management experience.
  • Experience using an accounting software, and a CRM system.
  • Excellent MS Excel skills.
Desirable
  • Experience working with Business Central (or Navision), MS Dynamics, and Power-BI.
  • Advanced Excel skills; complex formulas and automation techniques.
  • A project management qualification.
  • Experience in a not-for-profit environment.
