The Opportunity

EirGrid Group has developed an ambitious Business Strategy to respond to the unprecedented level of change and opportunity in the electricity industry, aligned with the Government's policies including its Climate Action Plan. Our Purpose is to Transform the Power System for Future Generations and our primary goal is to collaborate with the Island's Electricity Sector on Sustainability and Decarbonisation.
The role of the Chief Transformation and Technology Office (CTTO) is to vision, lead, transform, digitise, deliver and support the transformational programme to deliver the power system and market to 2030 and beyond, maximising the integration of renewables in a sustainable way at an affordable cost, taking on board the voices of all aspects of our society. With an ultimate target of having a decarbonised power system in advance of 2050.

The Head of Vendor and Strategic Partner Management is a customer centric role serving the Technology business functions of CTTO and its associated business units.

As Head of Vendor and Strategic Partner Management, you will interface with internal business units to establish principles and ensure consistent approach in managing our partners while taking full accountability for the end-to-end business relationship.

You will enhance our partners performances by identifying new and innovative approaches to engagement and extract sustainable value from these relationships. You will also be responsible for contract management and associated processes, maintaining partnerships with third party service providers, to deliver on its service delivery objectives.

We will look to you ensure that the services delivered through these providers are optimised and delivered in a cost-effective and culturally appropriate manner. We will also look to you to source, develop, maintain and provide the business experts to the Director of Strategic Programmes to ensure the delivery of the strategic programmes.

As part of your role, you will be a key contributor to the development of the overall IT and business strategy – constructively contribute to required capability as part of the Strategic Delivery Programme.
We will look to you create, lead and motivate a high performing team of experts in enterprise and solution architecture to deliver on the strategic objectives of CTTO and engage and motivate the workforce on an enduring basis.

You will be a member of EirGrid extended leadership team and will proactively contribute to the overall achievement of business objectives. You will lead, mentor, and manage the stakeholder engagement team and foster a collaborative and innovative team environment that encourages professional growth and development.

About you
Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field – Information Technology or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Deep understanding of vendor management best practices.
  • Outstanding leadership capability and the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve common goals. Change oriented and able to effectively challenge the status quo, while bringing stakeholders and team members on the change journey.
  • Proficiency in risk management and compliance.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex IT solutions.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills. Ability to translate complex issues for executive leadership and influence stakeholders at all levels. Ability to build effective internal and external partnerships.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and apply rigour and discipline to the processes of project management and delivery.
  • Strong financial acumen including managing budgets, funding requirements, and financial management.
  • Passionate and ambitious about digital transformation of the employee and customer experience, willing to combine tried and tested methods with exploring new options
  • Strong strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to understand translate business objectives into actionable outcomes.
  • Familiar with power system operations, and energy market dynamics.
  • High standards of integrity and ethical behaviour
