Job title: Cheesemonger (part-time, Sundays) at Sheridans Cheesemongers, Blanchardstown. Counter location in Dunnes Stores, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
Responsibilities- Sell cheese and other food and non-food items at the counter and concession walls; ensure products are displayed attractively and rotated.
- Care for cheese to ensure it is sold in its best condition; maintain knowledge of all products and their stories, pairings, and flavours.
- Clean counters, storage areas and fridges; maintain hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP where applicable).
- Provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment; assist customers with queries and product selections; promote artisan producers.
- Describe tastes, textures, and pairings; educate customers about Irish and European artisan cheese and producers.
- Receive deliveries and organize storage; maintain accurate stock and signage; ensure products are sold before expiration.
- Maintain cheese signs and displays; prepare and display cheese as directed; assist with seasonal hampers as needed.
- Support team with stocktaking, daily handover records, and routine counter maintenance.
- Adhere to allergen information and navigate Allergen Book; understand food safety requirements in a safety-inspected environment.
- Collaborate with Team Leader and Retail Manager; report issues promptly.
- 1 year of experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent knowledge of Irish and European farmhouse cheese.
- HACCP training or awareness of food safety in retail.
- Interest in cheese and local, artisan foods; self-motivated with ability to work independently.
- Strong communication, listening, and customer service skills; friendly and approachable personality.
- Available to work at least one day over 7, especially Sundays.
