We have an opportunity for a Design Manager on a major data centre project in Dublin. In this role the expectation will be to lead the design engineering team and coordinate design submissions will provide succinct solutions to the client’s needs.

An ambitious and outgoing design manager with a demonstrated history working within the construction industry on major projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate with the client’s design team for the project build and site wide design and services

- Coordinate the Winthrop design teams and external design consultants ensuring the design development is on program to allow construction to progress.

- Plan and lead design & engineering workshops with in house and external discipline engineers to resolve any issues and ensure progressed ahead of site activities.

- Manage the Technical submittal (TS) process ensuring the specification is adhered too and TS are submitted in a timely manner to allow the Design team review, comment and follow up.

- Manage the design query process raising issues in weekly workshops with follow up RFI’s raised with any changes to be raised to change management.

- Manage IFC releases and updates ensuring coordination with the design team and Winthrop engineers ensuring they are fully up to date with current designs, changes to be raised to change management as required.

- Lead weekly Design/Engineering meetings with internal and external teams to review engineering plan/progress, expedite/escalate any urgent items.

- Populate a design risk register ensuring Winthrop senior management and the client are aware of all potential upcoming risk to the program

- Manage the design and submittal process for the FFE package in the admin buildings ensuring on time delivery.

- Report design & engineering progress in weekly client meetings highlighting any concerns/risks to the project.

- Coordinate contractor construction drawing and models ensuring drawings are cut and approved in time for construction to proceed on program

- Manage contractors as built drawing and model ensuring timely submissions as per the project requirements and planned handover.

- Ensure contractors are submitting all required documentation, O&M manuals and uploading to the approved client platforms.

- Manage and coordinate the LEED requirements for the project as per the client’s requirements, liaise with the client’s design team and external LEED consultants in weekly / monthly meetings and issue reports/ minutes, generate monthly reports on progress and design to achieve the clients LEED requirements.

- Ensure project quality plans are submitted and QA procedures are implemented on site, liaise with TWD and client PSDA management on Temporary works requirements / traffic management designs and design risk assessments as per the project requirements

- Manage, co-ordinate and organise, through weekly meetings, the OFCI vendors appointed directly by the client, to ensure that they deliver on time, in accordance with the specifications. This will include preparation and submission of technical submissions to the design team and to identify any discrepancies.

Qualifications

- 5+ years’ experience in the delivery of large-scale projects including office fitouts, retail, hotels, schools, data centres, etc

- Data centre experience would be advantageous

- Degree level background preferred, in relevant construction discipline

- Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
