Mechanical Construction Lead

Exciting Opportunity for a Mechanical Construction Lead to work in a pharma project with our client, a prominent global EPCM company. The Mechanical Construction Lead is responsible for the timely turnover of all mechanical systems to the client.
In this role, you will be a senior member of the Construction Team with the responsibility for the proper and timely construction of the Mechanical Scope in accordance with the company Safety and Quality standards, the control estimate, the detailed design, contract, SOP’s, WI’s, standards etc.

Main Duties/Responsibilities include:

1. Pre-Construction
• Detailed review and liaison with design and client workgroup leads model reviews.
• Prepare detailed SOWs for trade contract procurement.
• Assist in preparation of detailed BOQs.
• Prepare and lead constructability reviews.
• Review returned Mechanical bids and prepare TBA.
• Trade and industry knowledge reviews, keeping abreast of developments in the construction industry.
• Development of detailed execution strategies.
• Input into CHSP, QA/TO and all other General Construction Requirement documentation.
• Assist in schedule development, schedule reviews and lead IAPs.
Provide input for the development of the Mechanical construction department which will include liaising with the Mechanical Design department leads, improving execution procedures and managing and developing Mechanical construction resources across the project.
2. In addition to above
• Ensures that the construction phase of the projects is adequately provided with suitably capable, qualified and experienced personnel, together with all the necessary plant, tools, temporary facilities and other resources.
• Management subcontract including Safety, Schedule, Cost and Quality shall be your main deliverable.
• Engages with the Design, Commissioning and Client teams throughout the project to ensure system turnovers are achieved to scheduled milestones.
• Develops site execution SOP’s as guidance to the Field Supervisors.
• Complies with the company construction procedures and practices in all respects, especially those relating to safety, quality assurance, personnel and industrial relations; where these are found to be inadequate immediately reports the deficiencies and suggests solutions.
• Keeps updated of developments in the construction industry and assists in ensuring that the company capability continues to develop and excel.
• Understands the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Regulations as they affect the responsibilities of employees.
• Ensure that the projects are constructed to the drawings, specifications, applicable standards, good construction practices, to schedule and in accordance with the cost budget.
• Carries out assessments of the contractors works and reports the results in accordance with company practice.
• Reviews contractor progress reports and provides input to weekly CM report out to Client.
• Supervises and manages all Site Mechanical Staff including construction superintendents, trade supervisors and sub-contractors.
• Manage construction works from pre-construction to system turnover.

Requirements
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Significant years’ experience in a similar role
• Biotech/Pharma knowledge
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent multi-disciplinary knowledge
