Innopharma Education collaborates with Griffith College Dublin to run and manage the faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, based at Griffith College, Dublin and Cork. This faculty provides undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the areas of pharmaceutical science, medical device and digital transformation to part-time domestic and full-time international learners.
The Dissertation Coordinator will be responsible for the academic and operational coordination of the dissertation process across Innopharma’s MSc programmes, including:
MSc in Pharmaceutical Business and Technology
MSc in Medical Device Technology and Business
MSc in Digital Transformation (Life Science)
MSc in Pharmaceutical Quality Systems Validation and Technology
This role ensures consistency, academic integrity, and high-quality learner experience from proposal stage through supervision, ethics approval, submission, viva, and assessment.
Key Responsibilities Oversee the end-to-end dissertation process for MSc learners, ensuring alignment with academic standards.
Coordinate the assignment of supervisors and second readers to learners, ensuring fair distribution of workload and subject expertise match.
Maintain and update dissertation guidelines, templates, and marking rubrics in collaboration with Programme Directors.
Schedule and oversee workshops on research methods, ethics, data analysis, and viva preparation.
Monitor learner progress, ensuring timely submission of proposals, ethics forms, interim reports, and final dissertations.
Organise and oversee the scheduling and conduct of mini-vivas and main vivas.
Academic Quality Assurance Ensure dissertations meet the highest standards of academic rigor, research ethics, and integrity, including compliance with guidelines on AI use.
Chair the ethics approval process and liaise with the Ethics Committee on learner submissions.
Support supervisors in providing consistent feedback and record-keeping on learner progress.
Coordinate second readers and manage processes for reconciliation of marks and external examiner input.
Contribute to Examination Boards and ensure accurate reporting of dissertation results.
Act as the main point of contact for learners on dissertation process queries.
Provide training and guidance to supervisors on expectations, feedback standards, and ethical requirements.
Support learners with dissertation-related academic integrity issues, including appropriate use of AI and referencing.
Operational & Administrative Duties Maintain records of dissertation progress, supervisor allocations, and outcomes on Moodle and other platforms.
Ensure all ethics forms, raw data, and submissions are correctly uploaded and archived.
Develop continuous improvements to the dissertation process to enhance learner experience and compliance.
Qualifications & Experience PhD (completed) in a relevant field (Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, MedTech, Digital Transformation, or related discipline).
Demonstrated experience supervising postgraduate dissertations or theses.
Strong understanding of research methods, ethics in research, and academic integrity.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple programmes and stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Previous experience in a coordination or academic management role within higher education.
Familiarity with Irish and EU higher education quality frameworks.
Experience with digital platforms for supervision, submission, and assessment (e.g., Moodle, Turnitin).
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (HPRA, FDA) and their impact on life sciences research.
Academic leadership and mentoring skills.
Ability to maintain academic integrity and fairness across large cohorts.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
Effective stakeholder management with learners, supervisors, and external examiners.
Capacity to innovate and improve processes.
