Job Title: Data Centre Technician Lead

Job Description:
  • Lead and manage day-to-day operations across the facility, ensuring all work orders and tasks are completed to SLA/KPI standards.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, and certification of optical hardware and networking infrastructure.
  • Monitor systems performance and address faults, outages, and abnormal events with prompt corrective action and incident reporting.
  • Supervise critical service maintenance – including UPS, chillers, BMS, fire systems, and electrical infrastructure – with consistent documentation and quality control.
  • Support, mentor, and lead a team of technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring cohesive shift coverage.
  • Liaise with specialist contractors to review, audit, and implement maintenance reports and improvements.
  • Take ownership of plant condition assessments, system isolations/reinstatements, and ongoing capacity planning.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety obligations, cloud service standards, and environmental protocols.
  • Maintain infrastructure maps, technical documentation, and reporting systems up to date.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Recognised trade qualification in electrical or mechanical services (essential)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a mission-critical or data centre environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with UPS systems, BMS platforms, chillers, standby generators, and electrical system testing
  • Proficiency in optical infrastructure – including fibre handling, installation, and certification
  • In-depth understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to facilities maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clear documentation
  • Strong IT literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to quickly learn new systems
